Reporting & Relationship
The General Manager will report directly to the President of the U.S. parent company.
 
Basic function
The candidate will be the company’s Shaoguan plant leader, responsible for the entire operation (no sales function). Longer term, the emphasis of the position will be to drive the entire Shaoguan operations to a world class manufacturing operations with continuous improvement on process efficiency, product quality, service and seamlessly interacting with customers (both internal and external) in a proactive manner. It is important that the recruit must be a Strong Leader and a great coach; Equipped with people leadership and development skills. 
 
Specifically, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
 
•Achieving Operation targets: Providing overall leadership and direction for production, materials control and transportation departments to ensuring the cost effective and safe operation to maximize productivity efficiency and to achieve operation targets.
•Assuring World Class Quality Operations in manufacturing process, products and services: Championing the Quality Assurance programs through the entire operations and assuring its successful implementation. Building a strong quality culture throughout the entire organization. 
•Planning: Budgeting the production plan and costs, defining KPI’s, setting performance targets on annual basis set by management and the board. Monitoring and conducting regular reviews on performance, conformance and achievement.
•Managing the Team: Organizing, motivating and adapting the team; Coaching and developing leadership teams; Cultivating a growth and quality culture and engaging the teams to grow the business in such a culture with specific growth and quality targets. Providing the necessary training on the managerial, safety, environment, and health aspects.
•Administration: Presenting the operation results to the U.S. management team on periodical basis, Assisting the U.S. President in planning for the budget control to maintain the plant and facilities, and any investment or operation improvement projects whenever required.
•Managing Internal Relationships: Coordinating with other function within the Group to ensure timely delivery of products and services. 
 
Travelling
Some travelling is expected in this position throughout China and abroad.
 
Career Prospect
The growth path of this position is a natural step to growing the plant from startup to a larger, more comprehensive facility. However, the right incumbent must prove him/her to be loyal and capable over a period of time to manage the growth.
 
Experience and Qualifications Required     
   5-8 years’ experience in managing a manufacturing operation, of which mechanical assembly experience is preferred, 
   Hands on manager, this will start as a small factory and grow over a period of next few years.  The manager needs to be able to “roll up their sleeves” and work with the initial employees to train the employees, demonstrate the process, and occasionally perform some of the processes themselves (they may need to perform QC for a short time until someone is hired, etc).
   Strong emphasis will be on the successful experience in setting up and implementation of manufacturing processes with TQM, lean manufacturing or six sigma, etc.
   Tactful in interacting with internal employees, responsive and agile to the customers’ demand; be proactive and creative in respond to sudden order changes.
   Familiar to the performance management with KPI’s
   Capability of leading a substantial business which is staffed locally;
   Strong Leader and a great coach; Equipped with people leadership and development skills. 
   Strategic thinking; Growth mind with cost control; 
   Cross cultural effectiveness and organization savvy.
